Literacy Volunteers At A Crossroads

Literacy Volunteers of Waldo County has been a trusted community resource for 30 years. Since 2014, it has been part of the Adult Education Program in Waldo County.

In a shocking and surprising reversal, its sole funder, RSU71, has proposed the elimination of funding for Literacy Volunteers for 2016-2017, effective as of July 1st. Without any warning to prepare for such a possibility, there has been no time to seek alternative funding.

We are asking concerned citizens to attend the school board meeting at 5:30pm on Monday April 11th at the Troy A. Howard Middle School or to call or email a school board member prior to this meeting. School board member contact information is available at www.rsu71.org.
